• Today in "TV You Should Be Watching Right the Eff Now And So Should I," The Exorcist showrunner Jeremy Slater doesn't give a fuck if homophobes were upset about a gay kiss. Involving a bisexual priest. Sign me up right now!


• The Washington Post analyzes the past winners of Time's Person of the Year, and how rare it is for an individual woman to win the title, and how an individual American woman has never won. Ironically, this year's Person of the Year, the "Silence Breakers" (aka all the women who have come forward recently about sexual harassment), exemplifies the problem perfectly.

Today's critical rolls: Gay kisses are awesome and popping up a lot more these days in media. What's your favorite gay/bi/trans/etc kiss in visual media? Personally I thought Captain Cold and The Ray were entirely too adorable on the Arrowverse Crossover a couple of weeks ago.

• New York Times columnist David Brooks accidentally kicked the internet ant hill when he talked about taking a friend with only a high school degree to a fancy sandwich shop and she freaked out. While the whole episode is eyeroll-worthy, this article in the Washington Post discusses how fancy food can be a class divide, but that it has nothing to do with lack of education as Brooks seem to suggest. 


• NPR has a great list of the ten comics that changed the industry in a major way.

• In this searing blog post, Kisha Bertrand takes the admins of DragonCon's official facebook page to task for failing to clean up after a nasty racist, sexist, gross troll spewed all over the comments in a Black Panther thread. Shame on you, DragonCon!


• And today in Are You Freaking Serious sexist weather news, a new study suggests that female-named hurricanes statistically kill more people than male-named hurricanes because people don't respect them. Humanity, that is truly some next level sexism you got going there.
