Scream Queens S2 E10 Review: "Drain The Swamp"

No, to the best of my knowledge, the title isn't a reference to a certain presidental campaign's motto. It relates to a threat that has been made for the entire season thus far. If the swamp next to the C.U.R.E. Institute is drained, then the dead bodies will be discovered, leading to a boatload of trouble for the employees. Buckle up, pledges, it's time for the season finale.

Okay, I'm fairly certain that Scream Queens has a finale problem. So far, both seasons have spent almost every episode building up to something grand only for the finale to run out of steam. Like I predicted earlier, Denise returned as a deus ex machina to save the day. Somehow, she manages to stop Offel's plan of killing everyone with a bomb. Cassidy sacrifices himself by saving Chanel No. 3 from getting skewered, completely getting rid of that plot. As for Brock's struggle with the shadow impulses of his serial killer hand, he's long since discovered that the hand didn't really want to kill Chanel Oberlin, he did. 

Dean Munsch's fatal illness? Turns out that she's just an alcoholic and she needed to start drinking water again. Compounding the plot, Chanel Oberlin narrates the final moments of the episode, showing that she has learned absolutely nothing from the whole affair. Someone dressed up as last season's Red Devil mascot/serial killer shows up in the backseat of her car, but I'm not holding my breath for that to be relevant in the event that the show gets renewed. Just like a similar gag in the last season finale, it'll probably be revealed to be someone pulling a prank on her.

Quite frankly, it's just disappointing. Maybe I was wrong to get my hopes up based on prior evidence, but it's still irritating. I also didn't like the way that Nurse Hoffel ultimately went out. I haven't seen a lot of slasher movies, but I know that horror movie villains typically go out in some amazing way. In this case, she just drowned in a random quicksand patch in the swamp. 

In terms of good parts, well, I don't have a lot to say. The negative qualities definitely outweighed the positives. I did like Hester and Brock's plans to run away and start hunting people for sport on their own private island, as well as Chanel Oberlin's plan to kill Dean Munsch by throwing a pumpkin spice latter at her brain during a surgery. Still, moments of that quality were few and far between. Part of me hopes that Scream Queens will get renewed, but only so the cast and crew can prove to the audience that they can create a season with consistent quality.

Scream Queens S2 E9 Review: "Lovin' The D"

Okay, this is what I want the show to be about. The three Green Meanies (Green Threenies?) have finally met and it was glorious. They accidentally interrupted each other's opening kills, letting Chanel No. 1 get away. Just the image of one of them shrugging and giving a "What the heck, dude?!" expression through the mask made me laugh. Aside from the great writing, it was also a golden example of physical comedy.

It doesn't end there because Hester interrupts their petty squabbling to call a "Green Meanie summit." Said summit is conducted in the format of a mock game show where she divvies up the remaining kills for Hoffel, Cassidy, and Wes. Cassidy is still in love with Chanel No. 3, making Wes constantly make fun of him and insinuate that the only murder he'll do is "killing her with kisses." He just grumpily responds by saying that he'll kill her. Can we just have a series about competing horror movie killers? Forget the Chanels, I want to see that!

Sadly, the alliance plot was too good to last. Wes betrays Offel by trying to kill Chanel, so Offel and Cassidy push him into a vat of frying oil, turning him into a disgusting corpse. Meanwhile, Cassidy sided with his mom by breaking up with Chanel No. 3. He just wants to be the serial killer that he was groomed to be. True love won't get in the way. As for Zayday, she's still in the clutches of Cassidy's mom, and no one knows about it yet. Uh, oh.

Finally, I actually found the plot of the Chanels to be somewhat tolerable this time. In order to perform a surgery live on a daytime television show called Lovin' The D, they have to pass an important medical exam. Of course, Chanels No. 1 and 3 cheat on the test and pass, unbeknownst to Chanel No. 5, who actually studied and legitimately succeeded. I was impressed by that. If she applied herself and actually became a better person, she might actually become the only good Chanel.

All of these plot developments point to a rollicking season finale, with the Chanels having their own show, and a tense cliffhanger with Zayday. I hope that it'll be good! See you then.

Scream Queens S2 E8 Review: "Rapunzel, Rapunzel"

Finally, the overall mystery of the Green Meanie is starting to unravel. Wes Gardner, a character from the first season, has been revealed to be the initial copycat Green Meanie. Due to the emotional trauma that his daughter suffered in the last season, he decided to suit up as the killer and get his bloody revenge on the Chanels. I do wish that we could have actually seen the flashback instead of just having him tell it to Chamberlain before stabbing him, but Grace's actress probably wasn't available.

I hope that this is foreshadowing a possible duel between Hofffel's Green Meanie persona and his in the next two episodes, considering that they both have a strong motive. Then again, maybe there could be another alliance and some traitorous backstabbing involved, especially because Cassidy isn't entirely on board with Hoffel's plans anymore.

The non-murder mystery side of the plot wasn't very interesting. I just don't care about Chanel No. 1's relationship with Dr. Brock. I think that his character is more interested when he's contending with the serial killer hand, but that plot thread seems to be gone. Equally uninteresting is Brock's affair with Dean Munsch because it just feels like a stale love triangle. I would rather have more screentime focused on her disease. Her simultaneous relationship with Wes is slightly more interesting, given his new status as one of the Green Meanies.

My favorite subplot would have to be Zayday's continuing mission to find out who the Green Meanie is. She has no knowledge of Dr. Cassidy, Dr. Offel, or Wes's respective identities, making it very tense when she questions Dr. Cassidy's mother about the ongoing situation. I also like the potential deconstruction of a standard horror movie costume. She actually sets a trap for the Green Meanie and steals a bit of the costume in order to find out who made it. The trip leads her to a creepy costume shop filled with dozens of potential slasher villain personas. I can't help but wonder if any of them will be used on the off-chance that the show gets renewed. Given the unfortunate events of the end of the episode, I hope Zayday survives to see it.

The comedy portion in the horror-comedy was present, but mostly crude in the tone. Raunchiness isn't necessarily something that I don't like in media, but it has to serve some kind of purpose. Lately, it seems as though the off-color references and euphemisms are just there for the sake of being there. Maybe it's me, but I would prefer something else.

Scream Queens S2 E7 Review: "The Hand"

I wish that the whole season could have been as engaging as this one. It has some surprising new developments on the multiple killers front, as well as some surprisingly fascinating insights into the minds of the characters. I think that the new trend in this season of starting off the episode with some narration by a recurring character vastly improves the quality of the show. Not only does it show their point of view of the events, it also expands their characterization. In this case, Dr. Holt narrated the opening, showing the deeper struggle that he has with his replacement hand. It came from a serial killer and he can hear the voice of the former owner, taunting him. Yes, it's that kind of show. The hand cartoonishly taunts him, keeping him awake and stressing him out. The more awake he is, the more he longs to kill.

Speaking of killers, Chanel No. 3 actually finds out that Dr. Cassidy is one of the Green Meanies. This not only causes an interesting conflict in their budding romance but also strains his already-uneasy alliance with Hoffel. I genuinely liked the character developments in this episode. It had a good balance of seeing how everyone reacts to the tense situations and cases.

In terms of humor, it's finally back to the point of manageable idiocy. It's just implausible enough to be wacky but also grounded enough to keep me invested in the plot. A highlight of the episode featured S.K.H. (Serial Killer Hand) saving Dr. Holt from one of the Green Meanies through inexplicable kung fu action. Additionally, S.K.H. tortures Dr. Holt and keeps him from sleeping by forcing him to watch religious telethons at ungodly hours in the morning.

Scream Queens S2 E5-6 Review: "Chanel Pour Homme-icide" and "Blood Drive"

"Chanel Pour Homme-icide"

I think that part of my frustration with this episodes comes from the stagnancy of the plot. I first became interested in Scream Queens because of the surprises that almost every episode had to offer. Anyone could die, almost every character had an underlying motivation, and plot twists would actually mean something. Unfortunately, this episode partially negated almost all of the previously introduced and new cliffhangers.

Firstly, a recurring element has revolved around Dean Munsch's anxiety about the murders being discovered by the public, and with good reason. If any reporters learned that patients were being slaughtered like cattle, they would pounce like a hungry tiger and close the C.U.R.E. Institute down. Sure enough, in this episode, the information is leaked, but after a few minutes, the Dean's narration merely reveals that it made the hospital more popular than ever. Who cares about the gruesome murders? They were cured, so let's go. 

It's similar to a fault that I had near the end of the first season. I understand that you have to have a healthy suspension of disbelief when watching programs of this type, but the ludicrous plot developments are starting to get irritating. A little dose of realism wouldn't hurt the show. In fact, it might just make it funnier and more entertaining in the long run.

Next, the end of the previous episode had the Green Meanie seemingly kill both Chanel Number Five and FBI agent Denise Hemphill. Almost immediately, the episode reveals that the Green Meanie's machete attack didn't kill the former and that the electrocution didn't completely kill the latter. Instead, Chanel Number Five is a reluctant ally of Zayday and Denise is in a coma, stuffed in a cryogenic freezer. Because of the nature of the show, she'll probably inexplicably wake up later in the series.

Finally, this episode raised more suspicion on Chamberlain Jackson, revealing that he's not actually a candy striper at the hospital. After a confrontation with Zayday, he just reveals that he's a random person who enjoys helping people. He only goes there to cheer people up. My issue with this plot development is that no one in the show is likable. Everyone has some moment that makes them irritating. Because of all of this, I can't find myself trusting his excuse.

As for this week's medical case, it's about Foreign Accent Syndrome. I just wasn't interested in it, as it felt like a poor excuse to have some of the actors put on different accents just to get a laugh. The character of Hester Ulrich saved the episode from being completely awful, mostly because she was actually funny. It's really cool to have a former serial killer on the show, someone who could be a potential ally, but also still pose a threat. The very end of the episode also reveals some interesting information, making Dr. Cassidy Cascade more of a suspect in the murder mystery. I can only hope that the next episode doesn't ruin it.

"Blood Drive"

Thankfully, this episode has vastly improved over the quality of the last one. I'm actually surprised at how many new plot developments were revealed. Firstly, we officially have the identity of one of the killers. At the end of the last episode, it was revealed that Dr. Cassidy Cascade was the mysterious baby from the pregnant woman, one of the only survivors of the rampage at the hospital. Said baby is a prime suspect in the case. While talking to Ingrid Hoffel, he revealed that he was only responsible for some of the murders. He also agreed to team up with her in an alliance.

Some key narration and a flashback also finally gives us a glimpse into Ingrid's past and why she has a vendetta against the Chanels. Her sister was accidentally killed by Chanel Number One all the way back in the first episode of the first season. After learning that the Chanels were going to become interns at the C.U.R.E. Institute, she vowed to make them suffer out of a need for vengeance. As for Brock, he was accused of being the killer and denied everything, insulting everyone in the room. It's possible that he could be the mysterious other killer.

The case of the week was much more interesting than last week's. It revolved around a man who believed that he was a vampire. Dean Munch assigned Hester to his case, now knowing that she was being harbored in the hospital and unable to think of a different way to keep her out of trouble. Her "brilliant" plan to cure him of the desire to drink blood was to take the blood from the blood drive and cook it into various foods, thus making him completely and utterly sick of it.

The blood drive itself also lead to quite a few funny moments in the episode, accompanied by inappropriately dramatic music during one of Chanel Number One's temper tantrums. It also lead to some more detective work from Zayday and her new ally, Chamberlain, having proven himself to not be one of the killers. Unfortunately, it also lead to one of the more nauseating scenes in the episode. In order to win the blood drive contest, Chanel Number One forces Chanel Number Nine to donate blood, genuinely terrifying me. I have a phobia of getting shots in general, so hearing her scream made me shudder. Her death scene made me even more uncomfortable, with Hoffel and Cascade draining all of the blood from her body. Despite my squeamishness, the episode was much better and I hope the quality stays at this level for the rest of the season.

Scream Queens S2 E3 Review: "Halloween Blues"

I feel sorry for Denise. She’s genuinely upset about Chad’s death, based on their relationship. One of the almost-completely serious scenes in the episode shows her grieving for him. I also have more respect for her after she nearly managed to stop and unmask the Green Meanie in their first confrontation. Of course, just when I start to think that she’s more than a one-note character, she dies in the second duel. Well done?

RIP, Special Agent. Your Quantico training will go down in history. Watching Quantico on ABC, that is. I'm not sure what you actually did at the location.

This episode actually managed to freak me out in one of the early scenes. After it’s revealed that all of Chad’s money is going to Dean Munsch and the C.U.R.E. Institute, Chanel goes deathly still. Chanel #5 warns everyone to get out, but then Chanel starts moving. An unearthly sound starts coming out of her mouth as she leaps over the desk in slow motion, lands on the lawyer, and starts beating him up, with disgustingly realistic crunching noises added in. I am completely serious. Her screaming sounds like an air raid siren.

In the last season, “Chanel-O-Ween” was meant to be a parody of a viral video involving Taylor Swift handing out presents to her fans. Presented in a similar format, it had Chanel giving out disgusting gifts and horrible messages to her fans. Yes, Chanel has fans. Who knew? In any case, the recipients were incredibly happy to be personally insulted by her. I’m no longer going to question why they still love her after that. I just need to go with it at this point.

This year, she outright says that she’s trying to get her fans to realize how much she hates them by raiding the local morgues for parts. No, really. It’s one of the most graphic and disgusting sequences in the season, made funny by the heartwarming song in the background. It doesn’t work and the fans still cry and squeal over a bag of pus, maggots, and the various other stomach-churning gifts. I can only imagine what will happen if the show is renewed for a third season. Maybe Chanel will upgrade to mental and physical abuse.

“Halloween Blues” was a pretty good episode. It’s hard to make up for the trifecta of Halloween-themed episodes in the previous season, but it still had plenty of gory fun. I still am genuinely invested in the mystery, even if most of the characters continue to be obnoxious and awful.

Killer Kountdown:

Catherine Hobart, aka “Werewolf Lady”, Tyler, Randal, Special Agent Denise Hemphill, and Chanel #5 aka Libby Putney- They are the least likely to possibly be the killer, as they are all very dead. Technically, we didn’t see Chanel #5 die on screen, but I’m pretty sure that both of them are dead. Also, I’m not adding Chad’s ghost to the list. Scream Queens is weird, but not that weird. 0/4 skulls

Ingrid Hoffal- It’s the same as last time. However, the promos indicate that she might appear in the next episode, so maybe that will change. 1.5/4 skulls

Zayday Williams- This episode really seems to be indicating that she’s not the killer. I’m still suspecting everyone, but I couldn’t find any evidence implicating her. 1/4 skulls

Chanel Oberlin and Sadie Swenson, aka “Chanel #3”- They both outright said that if they say Chanel #5 at the party, they would kill her. 2/4 skulls

Doctors Cassidy Cascade and Brock Holt- Holt implies that he could be the killer. He compliments the Green Meanie in an “I don’t know that guy, but he sounds really handsome!” kind of way. For a frame of reference, think Spider-Man talking to Mary Jane and saying that Peter Parker is really cool and that she should ask him out. Cascade wasn’t very suspicious in this one. 2.5/4 skulls

Cathy Munsch- No matter what she said in the episode, she just had this creepily calm tone of voice. I do not consider her trustworthy. 2.5/4 skulls

Hester Ulrich- She was wandering around in a costume, wielding a knife. Agent Denise Hemphill gave her permission to walk around, now she’s dead. Technically, she has free reign now. 4/4 skulls

Scream Queens S2 E3 Review: "Handidates"

This week, Scream Queens features more of Chad Radwell’s extremely misguided attempts to defeat Dr. Holt for Chanel’s love, the Chanels and Dean Munsch question Hester about the killer, and the C.U.R.E. institute welcomes another patient, as played by SNL alumni Cheri Oteri. I’ll be honest, I’m not completely sure of how I feel about the diseases being used by the writers for the show. By using obscure diseases with questionable symptoms, it almost seems like they’re exploiting and mocking real-life patients. Then again, maybe they are purposely seeking out diseases that are so obscure that it’s highly unlikely for them to be affecting a large percentage of the population.

Additionally, while the diseases are made fun of by some of the characters, a deliberate point is made to show the more serious side effects. Although, given the show’s propensity for outrageous jokes, I should just be happy that they’re not using certain forms of cancer as an extended punchline. Case in point, this week’s patient is Sheila Baumgartner, a woman who has Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder. She feels extreme instances of, ahem, pleasure multiple times a day, causing her extreme stress and a significant deterioration in her personal life. Thankfully, the show doesn’t make fun of her condition too much, instead using it as the catalyst for an icky scene with Dr. Cassidy and Chanel #3.

It's safe to say that this is the most not-safe-for-work episode of season two, even with implications, rather than outright steaminess. It's amazing what you can get away with at 9:00 pm on the FOX network. At times, it feels like it does more than what Saturday Night Live is allowed to air after midnight.

Speaking of Dr. Cassidy, I am a fan of his backstory because it brings back the surreal humor in a way that isn’t completely frustrating. He believes that he died back during a massive football party by lying on his back and choking on his own vomit. Indeed, his skin feels cold to the touch and when you take his temperature, it reads as 62°.

Yeah, probably not as cold as this guy, but still pretty chilly.

On the other hand, I am not a fan of the new clue for the identity of the Green Meanie. It’s very similar to the last season, where the culprit might actually be the son or daughter of the initial victim. Last season, it was Hester and Boone, the progeny of a deceased pledge at the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority. This season, it might be the baby of an ill mother who was pushed into the swamp by the hospital. It felt more fresh last season. Still, the show is by no means over, as Jamie Lee Curtis will be directing the eighth episode. There’s at least five more to go, so hopefully some fresh twists and red herrings will be added.

On the plus side, Hester continues to be my favorite character. I like seeing her taunt the rest of the characters. It adds to the ongoing mystery of the show to have a known killer from the last season acting as a simultaneous ally and hindrance while also increasing the general spookiness. I’m also enjoying Abigail Breslin’s performance as Chanel #5 much more than last season, mostly because her character is more sympathetic. I just feel so sorry for her.

Killer Kountdown:

Special Agent Denise Hemphill- Same as before. 1/4 skulls

Ingrid Hoffal- She didn’t appear in the episode, as far as I know. Maybe she was the one in the costume, committing all of those murders. She’s harboring a grudge against the Chanels and almost all of the victims have been patients that they helped to cure. Yes, it’s far-fetched, but is it really outside the realm of possibility? She could still be a red herring, but now she has more of a motive. 1.5/4 skulls

Zayday Williams- She was in the room when Sheila was decapitated and seemed devastated by her loss, but that might not be too much of an excusing factor. Still, she didn’t seem as suspicious as before, so I’m downgrading her. 1/4 skulls

Chanel Oberlin and Sadie Swenson, aka “Chanel #3”- They both suspect Chanel #5 of killing Tyler, despite them being in a committed relationship. 2/4 skulls

Chanel #5 aka Libby Putney- Murdering the most recent patient could be revenge for their constant abuse. On top of that, she wasn’t in the area when Sheila was killed and Chad’s slaying could be a twisted sort of revenge. Her boyfriend is killed and Chanel suspects her of doing it? Slit the throat of Chanel’s fiancė and reveal the body at their wedding. 2/4 skulls

Cathy Munsch- I couldn’t find any potential motives for her in this episode, apart from what we already know. She will remain in limbo with the same score. 2/4 skulls

Doctors Cassidy Cascade and Brock Holt- The new details about Cassidy Cascade given make me think that maybe he was born in the swamp. Perhaps his excessive beer consumption just escalated something inside of him. It’s not the most logical of theories, but based on the show’s increasingly bizarre plot devices, I wouldn’t put it past the writers to pull off something like that.

Meanwhile, Dr. Holt continues to be creepy. He was last seen glaring at Chad and Chanel after the proposal. Combining that with the competition over the past few episodes, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has something to do with Chad’s demise. Maybe his transplanted hand somehow has something to do with the murder. Either way, I have a feeling that this newest murder might not be related to the Green Meanie, but we’ll find out. 3/4 skulls

Hester Ulrich- Adding to my reasons from the last review, she is now residing in the basement of the hospital and she allegedly knows the identity of the killer. Is she just messing with them for sadistic pleasure or could she actually have a hand in the killings, whether by deed or by instruction? She has the motive, she has the skills, and now she’s in their midst. 4/4 skulls

Scream Queens S2 E1-2 Review: "Scream Again" and "Warts And All"

Note: This article contains spoilers for character deaths in episodes one and two of the second season. You have been warned.

Scream Queens is one of the many programs helmed by Ryan Murphy, known for shows that feature unconventional plots and diversity not normally seen on network television. In this case, the plot is most definitely unconventional. The first season was a send-up of college slasher films, taking place primarily in a sorority. You have your standard “mean girl” characters, potential love triangles, and obvious red herrings. As the season progressed, it also became a cartoonish, ludicrous farce of a mystery. Characters were able to survive increasingly deadly attacks, bizarre personality quirks were revealed, and the last semblance of realism died a bloody death.

Just one memorable moment from the first season.

And yet, under all the stereotypical characters and offbeat plot developments, Scream Queens still has a progressive streak, even if it is hidden under a veil of exaggerated social satire. One notable scene has a group of sorority members taking a stand against catcalling by calling the frat members out on their actions. Of course, said ‘calling out’ involved beating them up: your mileage may vary. Additionally, the show’s first season had a pansexual character, very rare for the media to portray. The season finale even celebrated feminism: the college became a wonderful safe space and the dean championed a cause called “New New Feminism.” Of course, because this is a satirical show, it was immediately followed by the dean leading a chant of “Women are better!” at a book signing for her new book.

This new season seems to be partially moving on from feminism on campus to America’s healthcare system. Having grown bored of feminism (in her own words) Dean Munsch has now acquired the C.U.R.E. Institute, intent on making it the most successful hospital in the world. The show quickly sets up all of the new characters, showcasing Saturday Night Live’s Cecily Strong as a patient suffering from "werewolf syndrome" and John Stamos and Taylor Lautner as two doctors. Since the season finale, Zayday Williams has worked to become a doctor and is in training to complete her educational journey. Based on her request for more female workers at the hospital, Munsch has hired Chanel Oberlin and her underlings, all dubbed with her name and a number, as assistants.

The remaining Chanels, in all their glory, proving that mean characters can still be protagonists.

The first two episodes primarily set up all of the characters and how they feel about each other, with a few potential clues as to the new killer added in for flavor. Unlike last season’s "Red Devil," the new killer is known as the "Green Meanie," based on the legend of a mysterious swamp man. I have to say, while I was hoping for the name of the new killer to be the "Green Demon," I still like the assonance in the names of both antagonists.

“Scream Again” and “Warts And All” are both great episodes, showcasing the absurd comedy and tense situations that slowly made me a fan of the first season. While I still believe that Chanel and her compatriots are awful people—and they are—it’s interesting to see how they interact with the other characters. Zayday is an interesting protagonist: I’m rooting for her to complete her medical studies and become a full-fledged doctor. I don’t know a lot about music, but the background music in the show is absolutely excellent; from the keening screech that plays before something awful happens to the bouncy tunes that normally play, it all fits the situations perfectly. I especially enjoy the songs that play during the murder scenes, mostly for their comedic irony.

Now, because I adore "who dunnit" stories, I want to do something different with this review. I want to give my personal ranking of the characters from the least likely to the most likely to be the Green Meanie.

Suspects

- Catherine Hobart, aka “Werewolf Lady” and Tyler: They are the least likely to possibly be the killer, as they are both very dead. 0/4 skulls

- Ingrid Hoffal: So far, she’s acted suspicious every time we see her, asking about the whereabouts of Chanel’s gang and harboring an extreme hatred of them. I think her character is a red herring. .5/4 skulls

- Special Agent Denise Hemphill: Maybe she’s trying to frame Zayday Williams for the murders, seeing as she irrationally sees her as a suspect for everything. However, her incompetence most likely precludes homicide. 1/4 skulls

- Chad Radwell: Somehow, he managed to break into the asylum that previously housed the Chanels merely to pull an immature prank. Additionally, he has certain morbid proclivities that make him fairly high on the list. 1/4 skulls

- Chanel Oberlin and Sadie Swenson, aka “Chanel #3”: Chanel Oberlin seems to be on the friendliest with Chanel #3 and they have disparaged Chanel #5 multiple times. It’s possible that they’re sabotaging her. 2/4 skulls

- Zayday Williams: Despite being relieved to see the Chanels, they have previously acted horribly towards her in the past. Maybe she has a secret motive in trying to discredit them. Chanel Oberlin managed to solve one of the medical cases through sheer dumb luck, making her look bad. She could want to eliminate them or scare them badly enough to make them leave, thus securing her position at the hospital. 2/4 skulls

- Cathy Munsch: I don’t buy her excuse for starting the hospital. I think that if she really is dying, then she’s using this as an excuse to finally kill the Chanels, seeing as she hated them in the previous season. Hiring Zayday could be an attempt to frame her, or subtly lead her into mistakenly getting someone else arrested. 2/4 skulls

- Libby Putney, aka “Chanel #5”: She was trapped while Catherine was killed and not present at the time of Tyler’s murder. Seeing as she saw the Green Meanie during Catherine’s demise and was dating Tyler at the time of his murder, I doubt that she had anything to do with the events. However, the past two episodes have mentioned that she was off her medication and she displayed extremely violent tendencies in the second episode. Seeing as the last season had multiple partners working together, it could be possible that she engineered Catherine’s killing with an ally. 2.5/4 skulls

- Doctors Cassidy Cascade and Brock Holt: Cascade hasn’t had a lot of screentime thus far, but he wasn’t shown during the murders. As for Holt, episode two revealed that his transplanted hand comes from a notorious serial killer. Combining that with the way his hand seems to act on its own volition and his violent temper, I don’t think he’s trustworthy. Perhaps they are working together. 3/4 skulls

- Hester Ulrich: She is the only surviving killer from the last season. Trained from birth to be the perfect slasher, I have no doubt that she could escape from prison or, at the very least, organize the affair from the comfort of her cell. So far, she knows about the killings, despite being trapped in jail. 4/4 skulls
